One to Six, America to China. All divided into regions, where the economically rich sets the standards on who sees what entertainment and when. Demands are high from the entertainment producer, to the technology engineer and its the consumer who receives the most frustration. Obvious differences in playback format weren’t enough, eyes with dollar-signs caught sight on the cash cow gleaming them in the face. Ideas of consumption control turned in to censorship, Regional Censorship.
Its natural for people to be different. From society to individual, different ideas flourish. Politics, Philosophies and Academics are critically examined between communities. They proudly present their love or frustration for their regime, the ups and downs of collectivism. Ideas of ethics and professions differ with geography and culture. How can they be changed, when there is nothing to compare it to.
It can be hard to believe the assurance of an economic nature. It may not be obvious at first, but the effects unknowingly segregate regions from entertainment and limits the consumer freedom. Legitimate works of expression, in need of finance, lose their importance due to lack of publicity. Any kind of region encoding used in media, deprive individuals from ideas they could have found useful, and forces them to consume what is provided locally.
Censorship, like charity, should begin at home; but, unlike charity, it should end there – Clare Booth Luce
